Emmanuel College (EC) Men’s Basketball faced off in a non-conference matchup against Bridgewater State University (BSU) on November 13, 2021 at 6:00PM at home. The Emmanuel Saints’ first win of the season came the night before during an EC Tip-Off tournament game against Framingham State University. The BSU Bears have had two losses so far, one of which stemmed from a game in the EC Tip-Off event that Emmanuel is hosting.

Emmanuel’s starting lineup featured graduate student guard Zachary Crisafulli (#1), sophomore guard Bryant Ciccio (#2), senior guard Giovanni Ciampa (#13), sophomore guard Donte Pope (#21), and junior forward Ted Weber (#32).

The Saints were up 7-0 with 16:49 left in the first half when Bridgewater State took a timeout. It wasn’t until the Saints were up 9-0 that BSU scored their first basket of the game. Although Emmanuel had gotten off to a great start, the Bears stayed in the game.

The score was 32-24, Emmanuel, at halftime. In the second half, Ciccio made an unbelievable steal and dished it to Pope who went down the court and dunked it. The Emmanuel fans in the crowd were electrified. The Saints started to pull away towards the end of the game. Emmanuel outscored Bridgewater State 39-28 in the second half, going on to win the game 71-52.

Pope recorded a double-double on the night with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Saints. He shot 10/15 from the field. Eljay Morris (#35) also put up big numbers for the Saints with 14 points and six rebounds. Morris made five of nine field goals he attempted and was two for five from three-point range.

The BSU Bears fell to 0-3 on the season overall, and the Saints advanced to 2-0.

The Saints’ next home game is a conference matchup versus Regis College on Wednesday, November 17th at 7:30PM.
